Bike Travel

Hertfordshire has some great cycle routes such as the Ebury Way.  This is a safe, level cycle track that leads from Rickmansworth town centre to Watford town centre, with links to Croxley Green, Oxhey and the business areas at Tolpits Lane and Watford Business Park.

Check out your route on a cycle transport planner which includes national cycle network routes and can adjust your route for speed or quietness and gives points of interest or cafe's to stop at.

There is also a specific planner for journeys to schools in the county which looks at cycle routes as well as walking and public transport and compares the cost, carbon used and calories burnt of the different options.

The London Cycling Campaign offers great advice on various aspects of cycling ranging from ‘what to take’ through ‘bike check’ advice on what to do ‘if your bike gets stolen’.

Cycle Events

Throughout the UK there are organised cycle events in which you can take part.

If you are new to cycling or need a refresher, then local community cycle hubs can help you get started.  In south west Hertfordshire the Watford cycle hub includes bike repairs, repair workshops, sells refurbished bikes, coordinates local 'SKY' rides, 'Go Ride' sessions for young people, holiday childrens courses and runs 'Bikeability' (cycling profinciency) courses.
