Funding for Energy Efficiency

Energy Company Obligation (ECO) Funding

ECO was introduced in January 2013 to reduce Britain’s energy consumption and support people living in fuel poverty by funding energy efficiency improvements in homes.

The larger energy companies are set obligations to install insulation and heating measures in order to achieve reductions in energy usage and heating costs.

Contact your energy company to find out about any schemes they may have for improving the energy efficiency of your home. You do not need to be a customer to benefit from a scheme so you may contact any one of the obligated energy companies to see what offers are available.

Other Funding

The Green Deal funding scheme for energy efficiency has now closed and the government are currently considering their options for any successor schemes.

If you are vulnerable to the cold and struggling to keep your home warm or are worried about a friend, neighbour or family member who is, please call Herts Help on 0300 123 4044 to find out what help might be available including help to make your home more energy efficient. This may include help with home insulation, emergency draught proofing or heaters, a free energy efficiency check or help to improve your heating.   You can also check if you are eligible for the Warm Home Discount Scheme.

Other grants and funding may be available depending on your circumstances. Click here to find out if you are eligible.
